Things We Need

We are a small organization that tries to make a big impact. Here are specific things we need help with right now big and small, monitary and non-monitary that you can help with.

Fund our Managing Editor Position for a Year - $15,000
We'd like to pay our Managing Editor a fair living part-time wage. This is the person who manages our open submissions process, lovingly produces all our books, helps our authors achieve their vision etc. We need $15,000 In order to pay them to work 15 hours per week at a decent wage of $20 / hour for the time it will take to produce apx. 3 books per year, run a open call with hundreds of submissions, manage interns, help manage events and book outreach/publicity. And generally be a point person for the press.

Fund a Marketing Coordinator Position for a Year - $6000
Books need readers and in order to find them they need to find out about those books. And we'd like to continue to support our authors in small ways so that getting the word out about their book is not all on them. We also want to keep readers and supporters informed about our authors and press happenings. This takes time and effort. We'd like to be able to pay someone a fair wage to manage our email mailing list and social media accounts. Write our monthly email newsletters. And post to our Social Media Accounts to keep people informed. At a bare minimum this will take 25 hours per month. At a fair wage at $20 per hour that comes to $6000 per year.

Give Us Free NYC Office Space
We are an organization that works out of people's apartments virtually. We would love a safe, clean office space where our Managing Editors and Interns could work and where we could store our books but we can't currently afford one. Ideally this space would have internet and access to some office services, like a copy machine or printer. Even a desk with a few chairs to start would be a big help.

Fund a Book - $7500
We believe in providing the highest quality of cover design, interior book design, copyediting support for our books and authors. And in printing our books at quality small-print-run U.S. printers. The cost is to pay our designers and editors a fair modest wage for their work for each book is currently betwen $1750-2000. And printing costs, shipping and other production costs typically run betwen $4500-5000. Then throw in some very very modest promotion say a fee for a special marketing effort through Small Press Distribtuion $250 and maybe a print ad in a small non-profit magazine like The Poetry Project Newsletter $250.
